DISCLAIMER: i am aware of how these look! i was just messing around in Photoshop doing what some jerk said would give you the same look as Dave Hill's work and i thought it was funny. i didn't think it got anywhere close....it takes lighting, crazy depth of field, like f/22 or higher, and an obscene amount of unsharp mask. not being for anyone but myself and the friends with whom these are take i couldn't care less if they look like a "newbie" processed them!!!

i found a new way....new for me way....to convert and image to b&w. i was never a big fan of the channel mixer so i really like this way of converting. if you have cs3 there is no need b/c the took this and turned it into a single window.

I'm re shooting this tomorrow so I thought I would post what I have so far and let anyone offer up any helpful hints as to what might make it better.

This is just a quick test I did with shooting a splash w/ a black BG. This is only a test...When for real it will be better lit of course but for something that took literally less than 5 minutes to shoot I thought it turned out pretty well!

Shot on black plexiglass lit using 3 broncolor strobes. 2 w/ grids hitting white cards behind and off to the side of each bottle. The last was a softbox hitting the foam core around and mostly above the camera for fill.

This is just a quick shot I did last friday playing with bouncing light into the bottle off of a warmer/yellowish red surface to get a warmer feel...yup yup.

This is a dessert shot for my commercial class but I'm not big on shooting foods so this took me about 4 min. to shoot...back lit w/ window light blah blah

Just playing around with light painting highlights on a car. If this was a real shot I would have lit the car then added the highlights but having no lights to set up at the time and no room to shoot the entire car I just shot for the highlights in this little area. Being my first trying to get lines to run down a car took me about 3 hours of playing with a flashlight in a little garage.

The only post work was combining the shot of the stream of makeup and the bottle shot...

This is for my client 6 in my commercial class. I used light painting with a 30 sec. exposure at f/32. I painted the person in for about 5 seconds then took them out and painted the whole scene to make them look ghostly.

This was shot while I was on an adventure in downtown Greensboro shooting my pano for Mr. J to the Rash's class. When Elisa started shooting hers I was bored and took a few snapshots.

Two self promos due for my commercial class this morning and this is what I got from hours of shooting the night before.

So this is another that I will be reshooting hoping for better results. Next time the glass will be better lit but this is what I have for now... f/16 @ 1/60 s with a 28-135mm on a 20d.

This was shot last night in studio. It was much easier than I thought it would have been. I used one broncolor to light the bottle and 4 hotlights for the glass. It was shot with an 18-55mm lens on a 20d and the exposure was 1/200 s @ f/29 w/ an ASA of 100.

I shot this older man for an intolerance project. He was crossing the skreet and this is what I got. I used a 70-200 f/2.8 on a 20D at 1/500s @ f/2.8.

fun and games...

This was shot last night just hanging out in the studio to see what I could come up with for my next "self promo" assignment. I'm reshooting this tonight better lit and with a tripod instead of trying to bend that far over hand holding it. This shot was done with a Canon 5d and a 50mm macro lens @ 1/200s at f/11. Hello Brafford.

IM ON FIRE!!!

This was shot last night on a light table with 4 hotlights. I had 2 hitting the bottom of the glass through the table and 1 hitting each of the 2 fill card I had behind and to the side for better seperating the glass from the background.

I shot these strawberries mon. night in a fishtank side lit with a fill card in the bottom. I used the broncolor fashion kit, two reflectors, and a 20d.

So this is part two of my coke assignment. Shot this one tonight using the 20d with the broncolor fashion kit. It was taken with f/20 at 1/250 of a sec. ASA of 100.

I shot this for my Commercial Illustration class. We were assigned to shoot a product shot on a white BG and this is what I got! I took this using a 20d and a Broncolor strobe shooting at f/22@1/250th of a sec. at ASA 100.

Shot this last night just playing around with a Vivitar and an alien bee.... This isn't exactly what I wanted and I will be reshooting with the broncolor early this week to better freeze the motion so be looking out for the updates.
